The tool supports two use cases: password recovery or password removal. Short and frequently used passwords are recovered fairly quickly, but stronger combinations require sophisticated hardware.

Algorithms used:

• Brute-force attack with all combinations of the password;
• Mask attack;
• Dictionary attack.

If you know some information about the password, it will be much easier to restore it than to access Excel documents that you don’t know at all.

The process of brute-forcing a password can be very slow, especially if it contains numbers and letters of different case. To speed up the cracking process, PassFab includes GPU operation and multi-core processor support. GPU and CPU performance directly affects the performance of the software product.
