ORPALIS PaperScan is a program for obtaining electronic versions of documents by scanning them. The product is distributed in three versions – Free, Home and Professional. The last two versions are paid, but provide a trial trial period, which does not require investment.

The tool allows you to work with multiple scanners via WIA and TWAIN technologies. In addition, the import of PDF files is supported in PaperScan.

The program allows you to rotate, scale, crop input files, adjust brightness, contrast and saturation, apply various filters and convert documents into black and white. Besides, with PaperScan, the user can automatically remove spots, fields, blank areas and flashing traces, as well as align the contents of pages that have been shifted for some or other reasons.

A separate set of functions is commenting, which, however, is not available in the Free version. Here the user can apply text selection with a marker, draw lines, arrows, standard and non-standard geometric shapes, insert images and text, set seals and glue stickers.

The PaperScan interface is much like other scanning software. The main toolbar, which is located at the top of the main window, is a ribbon and supports tab mechanism. On the left is the content with page thumbnails of the document. It is worth mentioning here that the free version of the program supports importing no more than ten pages at a time.

The program behaves responsibly. At the same time, the functional extension requires separate installation of other versions of the product, which is not very convenient, especially when moving from paid Home to the same paid Professional.

To change the language of the PaperScan interface, click the “General” tab on the toolbar. Then click “Settings”. In the Settings window that opens, select “General” in the menu on the left, and then specify the appropriate language value to the “Language” parameter on the right. To confirm your intentions, click “Apply” at the bottom of this window. If successful, the program language will change automatically without rebooting.
