UltraISO features

The program interface provides 3 separate functional blocks: the main window, the editing window and the file browser. Thus, the user can quickly and conveniently move files to create a new disk. The set of the main functions of the program includes:

• Mounting a virtual drive that plays the information recorded on virtual media;
• Recording an image from any set of files;
• Bootable disk/flash drive recording;
• writing to physical media;
• boot HDD sectors extraction;
• autorun capability;
• Creating folders and editing contents of disk images.

UltraISO supports ISO 9660 and Joliet, and uses internal ISZ file format for data compression and encryption. This format is supported by third-party applications, for example, DAEMON Tools. The program is small in size: UltraISO will only save a few megabytes on your hard drive. The program is also distinguished by its simple interface and high performance. To create an image, just drag the necessary files from the browser window to the image editing dialog and choose the appropriate action from the toolbar.

UltraISO versions

UltraISO is available in a fully functional paid version. The free release does not allow you to process disc images larger than 300 MB, so it may be inferior in functionality to the closest competitors. The first version of the program was released in 2002 with an exclusively free distribution. The paid version with the index Pro appeared only in 2006.

At the beginning of 2017, the version with the index 9.6.6, officially presented on November 18, 2016, is current. The latest release supports writing to disk up to 2 TB, as well as files in projects (UDF DVD) up to 4 GB in size. UltraISO 9 fixes identified bugs related to launching from a remote desktop and opening Acronis Truelmgae images.
